I know better . . . but has that ever stopped me before? I was composing this blog in my mind at 2 AM this morning. I couldn't write it because my router is not working so I couldn't type this on the little computer in the garage, but that is a whole other blog.
After our wonderful day with Smith yesterday we all went out to dinner at Outback Steak House. K&K had planned on going out to dinner on their own but plans changed and the 5 of us went out together. Smith had a grand time playing steal the silverware and we had a delicious dinner. EXCEPT . . . when the waitress took our order she asked if we would like an appetizer and Kristen and I convinced ourselves that we ALL needed the famous Outback Bloomin' Onion. If you have never had one of these gastric explosions you haven't lived. BUT you will probably live a long long life. On the other hand, if you are a sucker for the unhealthiest foods on Earth like I am, you know how good these things are. It is an onion sliced so that it looks like an opening flower, dipped in Heaven only knows what sort of batter and then deep fried till it melts in your mouth. THAT is a Bloomin' Onion!
Normally I don't order this fantastic death bomb but since there were 4 of us to share I figured it would be a treat for everyone. Considering that Kent would not soil his stomach with such a mess, that left even more for the remaining 3 of us. Ger ate some, Kristen ate some and I pigged out. NOW, consider which one of the 4 of us does not have a gall bladder to help process this gooey mess once it hits my stomach. You would think that by this point of my life, having lived without this important organ, (not that important for most people but with MY diet it is MAJOR), for over 10 years, that I would have learned to limit my diet to foods easily digested and not something that is going to put my liver, stomach and intestines into overload. Ah No! Pass that onion and lets have at it! The onion combined with 2 very large glasses of caffeine loaded ice tea gave me a very interesting night. I fell asleep easily enough at midnight only to wake up at 2 AM with a boulder in my stomach and twitching in my body. Caffeine and grease do not make for a good nights sleep under the best of circumstances and last night was no exception. After the Pepsid Complete pill and an Alka Seltzer an hour later,I started to wander the house. I ended up channel surfing in the guest bedroom until everything finally settled at around 6 AM. Most people are getting up at that hour. I am going to sleep. I woke up at 9 only to change beds and sleep till 11 when it was time to get up to go to mass.
I swore I would not eat a thing all day today but the diner had the best blintzes in the world so maybe I will just not eat all day tomorrow.
